it was hard, but i survived

so since summer started i havent worked and money has been tight. so this past week i got my grant money and next monday i get the money from my loans. i have had some things that needed paid off such as a phone bill and just stuff like that. i have learned a lot about saving and i told my mom that i wanted to save my money better and i was just going to take a small amount and indulge in something and then i would put the leftover in savings. well today i indulged at PFI. i have wanted cowgirl boots for forever and they were having a huge sale today so i indulged in an economically friendly way...i couldnt say no to a discount. i bought some ariat fat babys and i just love them. they are totally me and i can enjoy them a lot more knowing that i know how to save money a lot more and i have grown up just a little too.

You Alone

Hannah is so awesome! She has the greatest taste in music that praises God and has a wonderful message. The band is Casting Pearls and the song is You Alone. The lyrics talks about ridding ourselves of everything that has to do with ourselves and replacing it with the goodness and love of God. It also talks about how no matter how far you go God will still be there with you. This song is great for witnessing, but at the same time I see it as a reminder of how much God loves us and we need to give everything to him...nothing less. Thank you Hannah for sharing this at Youth Alive!

Friends Are What Matter

So I have this friend that I know from the program I was in last year at OTC. His name is Adam and we went to Jefferson City on a school trip and thats how we met. At school things were awkward and I didn't really think I would ever see him again especially since I was going to school in Joplin. Sometimes things change and when they did I came back home and went back to OTC for school. Yesterday, I came down a set of stairs and I saw him sitting in a chair and I decided not to go talk to him then. I was unsure about the situation. Becky and I went and got food and came back...I told her to take the long way...right past his chair. He seemed happy to see me and I him. We talked for a while and I realized the friendship that I had missed out on before. I have been going through this time in my life where I thought a boyfriend was all I ever needed and I didn't think about just having a guy friend(s). I think this will be a good experience and hopefully a great friendship to help test my faith in God. You see, we have this time of singleness and we can either throw a pitty party for ourselves or we can embrace life that has been given to us by God. I truly believe that God puts people in our lives for a reason...sometimes it is to teach a lesson, but at times it is for comfort. Adam is a great guy and with the only intention of friendship, I think things are going to be wonderful!

all worries are gone when you give them to God

well for those of you who do not know, i have been extremely stressed out lately, trying to choose which college to go to. well i am officially going to missouri southern in joplin, my grandmother needs someone to take care of her and being one of her favorite people she asked me to. again as many of you know the recent death of my grandfather has been hard on the entire family, especially my grandma. my grandma has received close to a thousand dollars from family since the funeral because several knew that she couldnt keep up flowers. my grandmother asked my uncle rick to deposit the money into her account and trusted that he would do so. she checked her balance today and the money had never been deposited. there have been other incidents that have added onto this stress and we are all finding it very hard to believe. we love rick and we have been praying that he will receive comfort as we all go through this hard time. i am not sure why is acting out and i really hope that he eventually sees what he is doing. my grandpa prayed for him often, that he would receive christ as his savior and life joyfully as the rest of us have. this is just a hard time for all of us and being two hours a way makes me feel helpess. i am giving this to God now, he knows what to do and i must trust him.
